Razer to release 360 Gamepad

RZR_XboxControllerView7_BlkBrg Popular PC gaming accessory maker Razer, has announced that it’s expanding upon it’s line of top class PC peripherals; branching out into something a little different, the console market! The recently revealed Razer Onza controller for Xbox 360, is said to offer gamers a tournament grade control system which will also be fully PC compatible, as are other 360 controllers.

“Just as we did for PC gamers, we are really looking forward to revolutionizing the world of console gaming by creating a controller and gaming headset that gives console gamers the same level of quality, precision and accuracy that they know and expect in our PC products,” said Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “This is a great opportunity for us to continue to give gamers the competitive edge by really listening and responding to their needs.”

Besides Razer’s awesome styling and ‘sharply-lit edge’, the pad will offer various features including Razer’s Hyperesponse technology for seriously fast actuation and a programmable multi-function button, which can be mapped to act as any action button, or even an analogue stick. The most revolutionary thing that Razer have brought to the table however, is a pair of  adjustable tension analogue sticks; giving gamers using gamepads just as much control and customisation as those using Razer’s mice (well, almost). Finishing touches include a 15 foot braided cable (no tangles here) and a gold plated USB connector.

So, if you’ve got a Lachesis and Lycosa sitting on your desk already and you want a gamepad to match, the Onza is most definitely the one for you! It’ll certainly look better than one of those beige 360 for Windows pads, and the cost is really quite competitive with an MSRP of   €44.99. The Onza was shown at this years CES and is due to be available worldwide, although there’s no sign of an exact date as of yet.
