Earlier today, Atari have announced that racing sequel Test Drive Unlimited 2 is under development by Eden Games, makers of classic racing games such as V-Rally and of course, the original Test Drive Unlimited. The game is set to revolutionise the racing genre with it’s use of M.O.O.R.®: Massively Open Online Racing®; putting players in an online, open world, allowing you to compete, team up and share your creations in a persistent environment.
“After the highly successful Test Drive Unlimited which redefined the genre with massively open online racing, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be an innovative evolution in racing games, expanding its unparalleled multiplayer experience and immersing players in a world full of new online content and lifestyle customization.” said Jeff Lapin, CEO of Atari, SA. “The game fits squarely into our strategy of moving online and generating new revenue streams while maintaining our current retail business.”
The game is set to be “always live”, with automatic updates and seamless integration of the games online/offline modes; featuring a single player narrative that can be enjoyed either alone or online. Other new features will include weather effects, vehicle damage, day and night cycles, and (of course) a brand new island to explore. On top of that will be some of “the world’s most desirable vehicles”.
No news as far as release dates are concerned, but rest assured, we’ll definitely be keeping you up to date on this one.
