origin_logoEver bought a game and realised it was kind of ‘sucky’, or didn’t work how it should? EA are setting a standard on such matters, by offering a “Great Game Guarantee” on their Origin Store — allowing players to request a refund within the first 24 hours after launching a game.

The guarantee will apply only to games that are bought from Origin and are published by EA themselves, but it’s a nice move for the platform — especially seeing as how much grief us PC gamers have been willing to point in its direction in the past. It comes right alongside the Humble Origin Bundle too, which has also had plenty us feeling a little happier with EA.

There’s an FAQ with more details here, but essentially; if you decide you aren’t happy with a game in the first 24 hours after launching it (or 7 days from release if you pre-ordered it) you can go into your order history and request a refund. You fill in the form, then wait up to 48 hours for a response. If you ‘meet the criteria’ your full refund will be processed within 7 days.

So, does that make you a little more comfortable using Origin? And do you think Steam will respond with something similar? They’re kind of notorious for not giving out refunds currently.
